“Finding True Spirituality”
--prayer and more.
Starting Sunday, January 8, 2012
Most people say they pray, but would be quick to add that “praying” does not mean they are religious. They are “spiritual.” Most people are looking for “spiritual connection” and while many would say they are spiritual, they would be quick to add:
“Do I believe in God? I’m not sure what that means. Am I a religious person? No. Do I go to church? No. I don’t support organized religion. I’m spiritual, I’m just not religious.”
The Bible has a unique take on spirituality. It reveals that spirituality is not just believing in God, talking to God or even reaching out to Him, hoping that He is there. What we will find in this series from the Scriptures, is that true spirituality is responding to a God who speaks and acts and who comes to you. And as you come to know Him, it changes you--both the way your heart works and the way in which your life is lived.
That’s real spirituality.
In this series, we will be looking at case studies from the Bible in which people prayed and had spiritual encounters with God. These are some of the most fascinating, intriguing, and influential texts in Scripture--in fact in literature.
