The Bible is God's love story to us. Scripture says that God is love... but what does that mean? How do we know what love feels like or how to love others? What is the source?

These questions are provided for your further study and application of this message. It is helpful to discuss your answers with others such as your Community Group, family, friends or an accountability partner.

  1. What is your take away from this message?
  2. What does the idea that you are beloved mean to you? What comes up in you consider that you are the "Beloved of God"?
  3. Consider the times you have been able to love those who are "unlovable." What is the common circumstance or theme?
  4. Have you experienced times when you have asked God to change your heart toward someone, and it didn't happen? How did you respond? Did you notice something between you and God? How did you and God work it out?
  5. What does God think about you? Is it difficult to believe that Jesus likes you?
  6. Read the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32). Of the main characters, who is ambivalent toward his father's love? Who believes he is not worthy and stays away? Who believes he is worthy? Who believes he is not worthy but comes close anyway? Which of the brothers received grace?
  7. Consider the source of love. How do we come to the source of love? If we know we can't earn God's love, what is the reason we tend to try so hard to do so?
  8. What do we require of others in order for us to love them?
  9. What does God require of us in order for Him to love us?
  10. Applying Scripture to our lives is important. Contemplate the truth that we love because God first loved us. Thank Him for his grace-filled love!
  11. Write out a prayer in response to what the Lord has taught you through this study.
